Ok, I reinstall my system at every Ubuntu release, I should have known this… But I like adventure! Once more, I happily boot my brand new install, fire up mplayer to listen to my favourite radio and… Damn, no sound comes out from the speakers!
At first I swear at myself for not writing this issue somewhere, as I must have hit this six months ago for sure.
Then, as a consumed Linux user, I know lspci and Google will help me! So let’s see if there’s something for
8086:293e ubuntu no sound
tons of useless posts, an old bugreport (2009), I switch page results and swear louder at myself again.
Let’s try another way:
Amilo SI3655 linux no sound
oh, now it seems better. Click on the first result: “doh, this page looks familiar!“. I check my backup /etc and I see the confirm! Damn again, so let me write this blog post, so in november I will maybe find this result when I search on Google!
Tip for Maxxer: edit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf and add to the bottom:
alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel options snd-hda-intel model=auto
now let me reboot and see what Gnome3 looks like
